To be honest, we’re not entirely sure what to make of this at Capanes Luxury Living, probably due to an immediate feeling of vertigo!  La Sala Puerto Banus, one of the most popular restaurants near to Capanes del Golf in Benahavis, has launched a new dining concept for the summer.

Imagine sitting down for dinner with 21 other people, 50 meters off the ground!!  It’s called La Sala in the Sky.  The dining table is hoisted on a platform by crane, and diners are treated to a 5 course tasting menu with wine and champagne.  This extravagant meal has been put together by chef Aitor Perurena, Executive Chef of 1870, a renowned restaurant in San Pedro de Alcantara.

We couldn’t help but wonder what happens if you need to spend a penny while you’re up in the sky!!  Thankfully the dining experience only lasts 70 minutes, so it seems this has been accounted for!

In August ever year, the Feria in Malaga opens its fairground doors!   If you happen to be on holiday in Benahavis around the 3rd week of August then we´d highly recommend going.  It´s an experience not to be missed.

The “Feria”, or Festival, runs for 1 week, throughout the day and night.  It attracts people and tourists from all over – from the Costa del Sol, Malaga, Spain and Europe.  The locals from Malaga will have the most stamina, as they eat, drink and party every day and night throughout the whole week with friends and family.

So what goes on at the Feria? To kick it off there is a massive firework display in the port area which can be seen for miles.   Then every day after that there is a street party in the main pedestrianised shopping area.  People eat and drink, and enjoy the live bands and flamenco dancers.

In the evening every one heads up to the enormous Feria ground which is on the outskirts of the city.  It´s like a small town specially built for the event, with huge marquis and fairground rides.  Each marquis or “caseta” has a variety of music playing, often live, and a bar serving food and areas to sit.

Walking up through the Feria, the noise and lights are an assault on the senses! There is so much to see and do.  Its a fantastic experience for everyone, from young couples to families.  The children especially love it.

It takes about an hour to drive to the Feria in Malaga from your holiday rental in Capanes del Golf.  You can go for just the day time feria in the centre of town up until 7pm.  Or get a hotel for the night (they get booked up fast), so you can experience the night Feria which goes from 9pm until dawn!!

All the fun of the fair within a short hop from Capanes del Golf.  Not to be missed!

Cordoba is a two hour drive away from Capanes del Golf. It’s a beautiful city to visit and stay over for the night. Come on holiday to Benahavis in May and you can do a day trip to the famous flower festival in Cordoba.
From the weekend 6th May until Saturday 28th May, the city which is home to the famous Mosque-Cathedral will be immersed in two of its most colourful traditions, the Patios Festival and the May fair.
Near the Mosque-Cathedral, in the Jewish district, there are also some very beautiful and old patios. The Palacio de Viana, which contains 12 different patios, looks its very best in May and is definitely worth a visit.
The Patio Festival is one of Cordoba’s most unusual customs, where for centuries people have taken great pains to embellish their patios during the first two weeks of this month. As a result of their efforts, this city which is already protected as a Heritage Site is shown off in its full glory.
